You can shoot this mini grapple gun from a distance, even around corners, and pick items up with stealth. Follow the step by step instructions to learn how to make a mini grapple gun at home.
Supplies You Will Need:
Disposable Ball Point Pen
Small Cylinder (a lego piece works great!)
a small plastic clip
2 Paper Clips
Sewing Thread
You Will Also Need
Scissors
Glue Gun
DIY Mini Grapple Gun – Instructions
You will need to disassemble your ball point pen. The inner part should look like this.
This is what the inside of a pen looks like (in case you did not know)
Hold this part and cut the tube this far from the end.
Chop off top of pen but keep it, don’t throw it away.
Put the spring on the the inner refill tube and glue one tip of the spring to the middle of the tube.
Chop the popsicle stick into 2 pieces: 1in. and 1/2 in.
Hot glue them together to look like a gun.
Get a small piece to fit on the inner refill tube. ( like a cylinder lego piece, for example)
Hot glue the piece to the popsicle gun thing.
Find a small clip thing. (I got mine off of a broken plastic coat hanger.)
Hot glue it on DON’T CLIP IT ON!
Take your paper clips and bend them, then cut them to look like this.
Glue your paper clip pieces to the plastic section on the tip of the pen.
Tape them together
Get the outer back section from the back of the pen and glue it on the side of the clip
Now, tie string from the clip to the part under the tape.
Wrap the string around the outer part of the back of the pen as the spool.
Wrap like this.
Your homemade mini grapple gun is now ready to shoot. You can pick up small objects from far away with your cool new DIY toy. What a perfect way for a bored teen or tween to spend time this summer…(on somewhat useless, impractical, but really cool projects!)
